ABOUT ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN + INTERIORS
“ADI Design Studio” provides a full range of residential and light commercial architectural services. Our approach as an architectural designer is based on expertise in the Design Build industry. Previously a Design Build General Construction company, we bring expertise in all aspects of designing and executing a major renovation, a single family or multifamily residence and light commercial buildings from start to finish. Our understanding of the process to successfully navigate the complexity of architectural design from a builder’s standpoint is key to the success of our projects.
We also offer interior design services in support of our architectural projects including furnishing and fixture story boards and 3-dimensional schematic design, casework and cabinetry design, color pallet and material selections, sourcing and delivery of interior materials and furnishings.
DESIGN
Our governing design aesthetic allows for equal appreciation of form and function. Our mission is to study and satisfy both the functional and formal criteria presented by each unique project and homeowners’ aesthetics. Along with our clients’ criteria, we endeavor to create timeless contemporary works of architecture and interior design that represents its occupants in a way that transcends. Every detail is thoroughly considered and given a path to execution.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Collaboration is the key component. All projects require clients to dream of their ideal home and commission the work, the architectural designer to design the home, and provide documents to which the contractor can budget and build them. Another component of successful management calls for the establishment of appropriate expectations. Expectations consisting of time, quality, and budget.
PROCESS
Experience is an important component of successful management. Taken together collaboration, expectations and process form a management blueprint, but it is experience that provides for successful project outcomes. Architectural Design and Interiors has the knowledge and management experience necessary to create and oversee projects not only from a design perspective but from the perspective of a builder with extensive background in the industry.

TERRY WHALEN
CONSULTING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Terry was born in Washington State and has been in the construction trade for over 40 years. As a general contractor he has built over 100 homes in the Pacific NW from Portland, Oregon to the San Juan Islands, Washington and has worked on hundreds more. He has called the islands home for the last 23 years and has extensive knowledge in custom residential and light commercial construction. He and Lori, his wife and business partner, were the primary principals of Design Build San Juan Inc. for the past 15 years. In their new business model; Terry is “hands on” and participates in all phases of a design project consulting with the team for site excavation and preparation, design, construction details and documents and drafting. He is largely contributing as a home owner and builder’s advocate. He can be available for consultation during the building phase of a project as needed. Terry specializes in major renovations and new construction from foundations to roofs.
LORI WILLIAMS
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER AND PROJECT MANAGER
20 years ago, Lori was honored to have been mentored by a Master Architect to become the seasoned Architectural Designer she is today. She is a visionary creative and has an excellent understanding of building design from start to finish including Interior Design. She is an active member of the American Institute of Building Designers. Lori works continuously to keep up with various design trends, construction techniques and Governing agencies with submittals and approvals from The San Juan County and Town of Friday Harbor Building Departments. She was previously a Licensed and Bonded General Contractor, Architectural Designer and Project Manager for a successful Design Build Firm in San Juan County. Her clients enjoy her professional attitude, construction knowledge and ability to listen and create a unique environment for each project.
